POTENTIAL APPLICANTS:
Your application will go straight into the trash unless it is well-written. Know that first impressions matter and that largely our recruitment process is based around both your application and your qualifications and past history. It is very difficult to gauge a person's talent from an application. Think about what you're writing. Put yourself in our shoes -- we don't know you, and if you really want to be one of the best, then you should put considerable effort into it. Your application is a reflection of you as a player. If you write poorly, chances are you are a poor player because a lot of the raiding scene is about intelligent choices and responsibility.

This is important (and failure to follow this one simple rule will result in us discarding your application immediately):

We will find you if we want you. If we don't respond to your application, it means we don't want you. Don't come looking for us because the only thing you will do is annoy us. You should say all you have to say on your application.

On average, we accept 1% or less of the applications received. Make it count.

Applicants should possess all of the following characteristics:

  • A desire for success. A common trait between all of us is that we are determined to win and will go to any length to achieve it. The group is only as strong as the individual. If one person doesn't want it as bad as everyone else, the group will fail. You need to be in it for the guild -- the tag represents greatness. You must plan to play with us for months to years until we move as a group to another game. This is not a casual club nor are we a revolving doorway. We take this game seriously.
  • We do cutting edge content instead of farming past content. We will always choose a fight we haven't done instead of farming past encounters. You shouldn't be in it for the loot.
  • You are extremely well-versed with your class. You should know EVERYTHING about the class you play, including how to get every ounce of performance out of your character. You should know math. There are tiny nuances to every class that separate the good players from the great. We only want the great. If you're a Warlock, you better be able to speak Demonic in real life. You should know you're a star, but you should be humble. If you write on your application that you're the best player on your server, we'll laugh at you. In the same respect, you shouldn't apply unless you are absolutely confident that you are amazing.
  • Don't piss everyone off. You should be able to blend with the rest of the guild. You should be patient. You should be mature. You should be calm. If you don't get your way, don't throw a fit. Don't be annoying. Don't fill our vent with stupid comments. If you aren't able to convey your thoughts in an intelligent and rational manner, we don't want you. You should not have any glaring mental neuroses.
  • You need to be able to pay attention for long periods of time. If we're developing a strategy or dividing assignments, if you're not at your computer or listening, it's a recipe for disaster. If you get back and say, "what? I was watching tv," you will get chewed out. We don't like repeating ourselves. In addition, you should be able to rationally identify specific details in different fights and be able to present these details to others.
  • You need to have a raiding background. This is a big one, and it's an aspect of the application process that we use to thin people out. We only want players who have raided before. You should have done the vast majority of raiding content, both current and legacy. This should be well-documented within your application, and it helps if you expand on this and really show us that you've actually done these fights. What separates the great applications (and players we accept) from the bad is writing without omissions. Tell us in detail what your job was and how you helped your group to succeed. If you've made videos, these are also helpful to include as it is visual documentation of your ability.
  • You need to be able to tolerate abuse. You can't be a baby or sensitive. You need to be able to shrug off being told that you fucking suck. If you can't deal with what is at times a high stress environment, then don't apply because you will only find that you are unhappy later. This is an environment where success and great gameplay is rewarded.
  • You need to have a LOT of time available to you. We raid five nights a week. We put in extra hours where it's needed. You need to have large sums of gold to purchase required materials. You need to be devoting lots of time farming consumables outside of raiding hours. Members are expected to come to raids prepared with all necessary materials, including a stack of flasks, lots of different elixirs, and lots of potions. We flask our entire raid. We drink potions to win. You need to be able to meet this requirement on a nightly basis. Most of us play at least 35 hours per week with at least 25 hours spent raiding (5 days/5 hours per night). This is subject to change on a whim. Raids are understood to occur Sunday through Thursday every week unless otherwise noted. You absolutely positively need to be extremely active. You need to be at the raid prepared on time.
  • You need to have a very stable connection and a high quality computer. If you have the tendency to disconnect, don't apply. It needs to be flawless. Don't apply unless you are absolutely confident that your computer is able to handle an intense raiding environment.
  • You need to have absolutely perfect gear. If you are a Tier behind, we don't want you. Your gear needs to allow you to compete on our meters from day one. You also need the best available enchants and gems. We will check the armory -- don't screw with us. You should have items for different specs. If you apply as a Shadow Priest, show us your Shadow gear, but you should also have a set for Healing if it is needed.

    Best regards,

    Führer <Aurora>
